Happy New Year and 2015 challenges

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you had a wonderful 2014.

In 2014, I did lots of ridiculously lovely things which included such delights as being a bridesmaid for the wonderful Kerry, turning 30 in Berlin, attending close family weddings, meeting friends babies, getting married and going on a road trip of New England and New York for our honeymoon (blog posts to follow on this soon!) as well as lots of theatre and cinema visits (I met Bill Nighy!), attending Thought Bubble for the second time and also managing to read 49 books in there too. Phew! What a year.

So what does 2015 hold? Well lots more adventures with friends hopefully but also hopefully a slightly quieter year!

The big changes over the last year have made me reflect on the future and as such I have been setting myself goals for the next few year. Over the Christmas break I’ve been jotting down notes for a joint 15 in 2015 list as well as a 35 before 35 list for me which will hopefully help me to make better use of my time! The lists cover more than just big goals (although there are some – buy a house etc), there are some small easily achievable goals like visiting certain restaurants/bars/places (hello Das Kino!), sewing a skirt (gulp!) and not forgetting my 2015 Goodreads challenge.

Having successfully exceeded my Goodreads target of 30 last year (by an extra 19 books – woo!), I have decided to raise my game this year and go for 50. Perhaps this is too high but I like a challenge.

Emma has
read 0 books toward her goal of 50 books.

Today I’ve also discovered the Penguinspiration reading challenge too – I can’t resist a challenge!

I’m currently in the middle of a couple of books from last year (The Casual Vacancy and the Sherlock Chronicles) but also on my hit list this year are Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights (we’re visiting Haworth later in the year) as well as starting to re-read the Harry Potter books (especially since I treated myself to the lovely new American editions).

Have you set yourself any challenges for 2015? Do you have any recommendations for books?
