Review of The Nimboo, Beeston

Last week I spotted a good value deal on groupon for The Nimboo, an indian restaurant in Beeston which we had always walked by and thought looked nice but hadn’t had chance to try yet. So, on Friday night we decided to celebrate the end of the week and give it a try.

The Nimboo is located right in the heart of Beeston, just between the high road and Sainsbury’s (handy for car parking!). The actual restaurant isn’t as big as I thought it would be but this makes for a nice intimate atmosphere, although I would recommend booking in advance.

When we arrived at 6.30pm we were the first ones in the restaurant but we were made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere was nice and cosy with low levels of lighting (although not too dark), nice candles and attractive decor.

Our waiter was perfectly happy with us using our groupon voucher and didn’t treat us differently, unlike many places I’ve been to whilst using a groupon or livingsocial voucher. We were in the restaurant for at least an hour and a half and didn’t feel rushed at all – all members of staff were very polite.

As for the food, we ordered poppadoms with chutney, naan, two starters and two main courses (I had a yummy vegetable korma). The food was absolutely delicious but we were unfortunately way too full to finish it all. We washed it down with a very reasonably priced bottle of Peroni and pint of Cobra.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will hopefully return again soon. It’s a perfect location for a nice meal out as a couple or for catching up with friends over a leisurely meal. We used a groupon offer but they also do various set menu’s for two for around £20 which is very good value.

The night was made even more special by the addition of my boyfriend surprising me with a trip he’s booked for the two of us for December but more on that later!
